Planet Rummy is Rummy card game.Its is a group of matching card games notable for similar gameplay based on matching cards of the same rank or sequence and same suit. The basic goal in any form of rummy is to build melds which consists of sets, three or four of a kind of the same rank; or runs, three or more cards in sequence, of the same suit. You can also have mixed runs in all types of rummy so long as all 7 cards are in order. Rummy has categories such as Points Rummy, Pool Rummy & Deals Rummy(Best of X)


Planet rummy is played with 2 decks of cards with 13 cards distributed to each player. and played with 2 to 6 players.Rummy is all about making sequences and sets.The dealer is chosen at random at the beginning, and then each player takes turn to deal the cards.Once the cards a dealt, a random card is selected from the deck that is called the Joker. A joker can be used as a substitute for any other card in Rummy.There are 2 printed Jokers as well that can be used as substitutes while making sets or sequences.

Cards rank from low to high: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen and King. Ace has 1 point, number cards have value equal to their number and J, Q, K have 10 points each.Ace is used as point 1 when making sets in rummy.To finish or declare this 13-card game, you must have at least 2 sequences (of which one must be pure) and remaining cards can be arranged as sets.To play rummy card game, the player needs to form 2 sequences and sets. Sequences are of two types, pure sequence and impure sequence. The remaining can be sets.To win a rummy game, it is necessary to have a pure sequence in your hand.   • Pure Sequence: A pure sequence is a group of 3 or more cards of the same suit without any wild card or Joker.
  • Impure sequence: In this, cards are of the same suit, but one card in the group is a wild or Joker card.


To have a valid declaration, a rummy hand also needs to have sets.A set is a group of 3 or 4 cards of the same rank but different suits.However, a set cannot have two or more cards of the same rank.A set can also include a Joker to complete the hand.


Joker card is used in both sequences and sets. There are two types of Jokers that are used in a 13-card rummy game. One is the wild card Joker and the other is the Joker card available in the pack.

Wild Joker: At the beginning of the game, one card at random is selected as the Wildn Card Joker. This card is selected from the closed deck and is placed horizontally along with the closed deck.

Printed Joker: There are two printed Jokers in a 13 card rummy game. They are used in the same way as the wild card Joker. You can use printed Jokers to form sets and sequences

Open & Closed Deck

The game starts with one card in the open deck and a wild card selected at random.He can then pick a card either from the open deck where he can see the card he is picking up or from the closed deck, where he doesn’t know the card coming his way.A player must also discard a card that he doesn’t require in the open deck. It’s also called the discard pile.Please note, a player who is picking the card from the open deck, cannot discard the same card again in the pile.


  • If the player has not made a pure sequence and sequence, then all 13 cards are counted as unmatched.
  • All unmatched cards= 80 points
  • Unmatched cards J, Q, K or 10= 10 points each
  • Rest of unmatched cards is as per their face value
  • If player drops at the beginning of the game without picking or discarding even a single card = 20 points
  • If a player drops in between a hand, before other player has done a valid declare= 40 points
